Streets, Roads
& Bridges: (Kevin Nicklas, Neal
Hoisington)
The catch basin located on
School & Pleasant street seems to go nowhere. Kevin Nicklas and Kevin McIntyre
will take a look at the pipe and try to figure out what can be done.
The council needs a large map
of the Borough of Sugar Grove that can be hung on the wall and marked with
drain pipes, street lights, etc. It was suggested that either Planning & Zoning
or Harold Bloomgren might be able to help with the map.
Council opened and discussed
bids to work on the sluice pipes located on Stillwater Road and Younie Street.
Kevin McIntyre will check with PennDot to see if they would sell us 48 inch
pipe if we need it.
A
motion was made by Kevin Nicklas and seconded by Dave Slater to accept Galan Critzer bid for the proposal
to perform the work on Younie Street and Stillwater Road sluice pipes. The
Borough will supply the pipes. The motion carried.
Neal Hoisington noted that
the Big Tree Road is in really bad condition. Residents need to be encouraged
to call PennDot and complain to them directly about the condition of the road.
Two trees are down in the
creek. A letter needs to be sent to J. Parker and to S. Cobbe about taking care
of the trees.
Neal Hoisington is still
researching the cost to return Curtis Street to its original width &
repave.
Luann Lassinger suggested
maintenance around the “Welcome to Sugar Grove” signs. Neal Hoisington will
call Mrs. VanDorn to see about what can be done about the sign maintenance.
Kevin Nicklas noted that
there are several signs needed around the Borough (ex. Speed limit signs)
Parks, Playground, & Sidewalks: (Kathy
Buerkle, Ryan Hoffman, Jerry Bloomgren)
Council was updated on the
status of the Community Park Grant. Need to follow up with Kathy Buerkle on the
tree removal bids.
Kent Wilcox mentioned that it
would be nice to have edging around the landscaping in front of the Borough
building. Kevin McIntyre will call Allegheny Landscaping and Design to see if
they can do it.
Council discussed hiring an
attorney or deed researcher to research the title/deed to the park.
A motion was made by Neal Hoisington and seconded by Dave
Slater to put treated landscaping around the bushes in front of the Borough
building. The motion carried.
A motion was made by Dave Slater and seconded by Neal
Hoisington to hire Ken Crosby to research the park deed. The motion carried.
A motion was made by Dave Slater and seconded by Neal Hoisington
to buy benches for the park. The motion carried.
Building: (Ryan Hoffman,
Kevin Nicklas, Jerry Bloomgren)
Need a new rope for the flag.
The pole should be painted at the same time the rope is replaced. It was
suggested that it might be a good project for the boy scouts. The secretary
will email Ryan Hoffman to see if they would like to do it.
Jerry Bloomgren asked to buy
a weed whacker for the Borough.
The SGVFD treasurer would
like help with QBooks and will call the secretary to set up a time.
The SGVFD is looking at voice
recognition software to record call notes.
It was noted that the Busti
VFD has 50 new volunteers and someone should contact them to see what they are
doing.
A motion was made by Dave Slater and seconded by Jerry
Bloomgren to buy a weed whacker for the Borough. The motion carried.
Sugar Grove
VFD:
(Kathy Buerkle, Dave Slater)
It was noted that the Sugar
Grove VFD will be amending their by-laws to add 2 additional members to the
SGVFD trustee board.
Kevin McIntyre reminded the
council that we need an active list of members and planned activities for the
year for insurance reasons. Dave Slater will ask for that information at the
next VFD meeting.
Old Business:
$305 was collected on clean
up day. The Borough has not received
the bill from Jones Carroll for hauling the junk away.
Ordinances: (Neal Hoisington,
Dave Slater) None
New Business: None
A motion
for adjournment was made by Kevin Nicklas seconded by Dave Slater. The motion
carried and the meeting was adjourned at 9:07 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Karla F. LoPresti, Secretary
