Supervisor Black called the October 6, 2009 regular session of the Sugar Grove Township Board of Supervisors to order at 8:00 p.m. at the Sugar Grove Township Maintenance Building, Creek Rd., Sugar Grove, PA. Black led all those in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Supervisors Present: Chairman Randy Brown (late), Supervisor Carl Black, Supervisor George Sanders
Road Crew present: Brian Larson
Absent:
Visitors Present: Gene Falconer, Dustin Hanes, Ben Hanes
A motion was made by Carl Black to accept the September 15, 2009 meeting minutes, seconded by George Sanders. The motion carried.
Public Comment Period:
Dustin Hanes stated that
there is a Halloween party at the Sugar Grove VFD on Friday, October 30. He is asking for a donation to help with
decorations, prizes, candy, etc.
Discussion followed. Randy Brown made a motion to donate
$200.00 to the Chandlers Valley Community Center for the Halloween party to be
held at the Sugar Grove VFD on October 30, seconded by George Sanders. The motion carried.
Road Report:
The road crew has been ditching. The pipe extension is done on Cross Road. Brian ordered a new windshield for the International and he is getting parts for the trucks so that he can get them ready for winter. Carl Black asked about the Stoney Run project and Brian Larson stated he should be starting it next. Brian also asked about fall grading. Discussion followed.
Business:
There was a discussion on building inspection
agencies. Carl Black made a
motion to have BIU (Building Inspection Underwriters) as our inspection agency
for a period of one year, seconded by Randy Brown. The motion carried. The county aid completion form was
signed. The secretary presented
information about new cell phones and a new plan. Discussion followed. Randy
Brown made a motion to purchase the Motorola Tundra phones for the road crew
and to upgrade the plan, seconded by George Sanders. The motion carried.
Mead Township is having an auction for selling excess materials,
equipment, parts, etc. on October 31 and ask us if we would be interested in
selling. The supervisors stated that
they would like to know if it would cost us anything. The secretary will check with Mead Township. If there is little or no cost, the
supervisors would like to take the backhoe down to see if it would sell. Joe and Ruth Cataldo need a permit for their
new home and MDIA has turned down the request stating that our contract is
up. Discussion followed. The supervisors stated to contact our
solicitor and have her call MDIA and get the situation rectified. Our budget meeting will be held at our
October 20 meeting. There was a
discussion on a nuisance ordinance. The
supervisors would like the secretary to ask the solicitor about this ordinance
and see if there could be a clause of established events/businesses.
Communications:
Communications were reviewed. A letter of complaint was received from a township resident about the condition of the roads. The supervisors asked the secretary to reply to this resident and stated the reasons the road work was done as it was, etc.

A motion was made by Randy
Brown to pay the current bills for a total of $24,111.04, seconded by George
Sanders. The motion carried.
Supervisors Comment:
Todd Fantaskey called Randy Brown about some questionable sewage problems. A discussion by the supervisors followed. The supervisors want Todd to handle this situation. Randy Brown will contact Todd.
A motion was made by Randy Brown to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Carl Black. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 10:20 p.m.
