Supervisor Brown called the March 3, 2009 Regular Session of the Sugar Grove Township Board of Supervisors to order at 8:04 p.m. at the Sugar Grove Township Maintenance Building, Creek Rd., Sugar Grove, PA. Brown led all those in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Supervisors Present: Chairman Randy Brown, Supervisor Carl Black, Supervisor George Sanders
Road Crew present: Brian Larson

Visitors Present: Ken Carlson, Marlene Falconer, Dave VanHouten
A motion was made by Carl Black to accept the February 17, 2009 meeting minutes, seconded by George Sanders. The motion carried.
Public Comment Period:
Dave VanHouten, Ken
Carlson, & Marlene Falconer were present to represent the Chandlers Valley
Community Center and stated that the Easter Egg Hunt was not possible this year
and asked for a $1500.00 donation.
Discussion followed on the amount of donation and budget deficit at the
community center. Tabled until next
meeting. Randy Brown asked the
community center representatives for a budget.
Marlene Falconer asked the supervisors if they enjoyed Homestead
Days. The supervisors relied yes they
do. Ken Carlson stated they are looking
for better date for this event. George
Sanders asked if the commissioners are notified for promotion purposes and
suggested contacting Ron Bosworth from Senator Mary Jo White’s office. George Sanders also suggested that they
contact John Eggleston and Lance Pangborn.
Randy Brown also stated that there may be grants to help and Carl Black
stated that you don’t get any help unless you ask.
Road Report:
The trees on Stillwater and Cross Roads have been taken care of. The road crew has been sanding icy patches and removing downed tree limbs from the roadways and obstructions from culverts, sluices, and bridge inlets. Weather permitting they will bring the grader back and get it ready for grading roads. They will be putting stone in the soft spots on roads next week. Dave Enos requested that the township boom mow the reed beds. The supervisors stated to go ahead. The supervisors told Brian to contact Walsh Equipment about rubber-tired roller. There was a discussion about the performance of gravel on Stillwater Road.
Business:
There was a complaint received about the garbage and
needles that are laying all over at the Chandlers Valley Trailer Park. Carl Black stated that we need to send a
letter to the owner.
Communications:
Communications were reviewed. There was a discussion on the bridges.

A motion was made by Randy
Brown to pay the current bills for a total of $8,606.62, seconded by George
Sanders. The motion carried.
Supervisors Comment:
There was a lengthy discussion about a new roller. There was also a discussion on policies on donations to community and that budgets should be presented and plans for the spending outlined. There was a discussion on spending procedures for the fire department. Randy Brown referenced the township news magazine and an article on proper procedure. Carl Black suggested that there may have to be a fire tax added. The supervisors all agreed that emergency services should be high on list of priorities.
A motion was made by Randy Brown to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Carl Black. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
