Road Report:
Bill McDonald from Five Star Equipment was present to explain pricing on a John Deere Backhoe. The cost is $76,200 with an $18,000 trade in. He also suggested that we advertise our backhoe for sale (or bid it out) to see if we could get more than the trade in. The interest rate thru John Deere for financing is 5.5%. He also told the supervisors that if we purchased a new backhoe thru them that if anything happened to ours, that they would have a loaner available for us to use until ours is fixed. Discussion followed. The road crew has been cold patching, weed eating, fixing storm damage on Wilson, Cross, and Dobson Roads. Discussion of how Cross Road was fixed. They are also fixing up minor repairs on the roads (guard rails, tree limbs, etc.) They cold patched Rounds Hill instead of cutting it open and repairing it. Brian needs to order 145 tons of limestone for the sealcoating.
Business:
A resident, Gary Hunter, has a flooding problem due to his neighbor filling in a ditch that is a drainage ditch for Teal Hill. The supervisors suggested that we call the conservation district to see what can be done about this. The Fireworks and Road Naming Ordinances were reviewed and adopted. A motion was made by Carl Black to adopt Ordinance# 09-08-18, Road Naming Ordinance, and to adopt Ordinance# 09-08-18.1, Fireworks Ordinance, seconded by Randy Brown. The motion carried. A representative for the board of the EIT Countywide Tax Collection needs to be appointed. Building inspectors were also discussed. The secretary, along with 2 other township secretaries, is trying to set up a meeting with all the townships that will have no coverage in November. The supervisors stated to check with the other townships to see how many would be interested in having an informational meeting. We are also trying to get representatives from the building inspection companies to attend to give us any information that we may need.
