The Spring Road Inspection was held on Saturday, May 16, 2009 beginning
at 7:00 a.m. at the Sugar Grove Township building with Chairman Randy Brown,
Supervisor Carl Black, Supervisor George Sanders, Road Crew Foreman Brian
Larson, and secretary Kathie Liffner present. Numerous roads were inspected
with problem areas being noted.
Creek Road: Grade and cut the berm between Younie’s and Trask Road and put on a good coating
of oil.
Dobson Road: Berms need cut back.
Stoddard Road: The road needs raised.
Sanders Road: The berm needs cut back.
Eccles Road: The bank slide in the creek on the curve was
discussed. The trees in the creek need

Corner of Rounds Hill and Wilson Road: It needs to be ditched and roll the dirt
back towards the property owners side.
Build the corner up about 1’ with decent ditch dirt for about 4’ wide.
Rounds Hill Road: The cross pipe at Leach’s needs dug out at the end. We also need to seal the blacktop portion.
Irvine Run Road: There needs to be a 15” cross pipe just over the hill.
Samuelson Road: Needs to be oiled to save the oil that we
have there already. In front of Gibson’s it needs graded and reshaped and then
oiled.
Fiddler Hill Road: Needs to be graded, packed in
and oiled. The intersection from Brown
Hill Road needs ditched and roll off the sod and oil it to define the line of
the road again.
Deer Run Road: If we can get millings from the state, we
need to put them down starting at Matthews Run Road and go as far as we
can. The ditches need to be cuffed.
Corner of Deer Run and Goast Hill Road: It
needs about 1’ of bank run and a cross pipe at the end of
Goast Hill.
Penny Bank Road: Needs gravel.
Sweeney Road: Ditching, bring crown of road up.
Stilson Hill Road: Ditch, pull in edges and bring
the crown back up.
Murry Hill Road: Needs crown back in the road
Swede Hollow Road: It needs shaped and crown back
in road from Davis’s to Teal
Hill Road. There was also a discussion
on the water and what to do down by Dennison’s and Hagberg’s.
Jones Hill Road: There was a discussion on the bridge. It also needs gravel and ditching.
There was a discussion on the grader tires. Carl Black made a motion to purchase tires for the grader
from Johnson’s Tire Service, seconded by George Sanders. The motion carried. Summer help was also discussed. George Sanders made a motion to hire
Colton Black with a 30-day probation period at $7.25 per hour, seconded by
Randy Brown. The motion carried with
Carl Black abstaining from the vote due to it being related to the applicant. The purchase of road oil, by residents,
was also discussed. The secretary will
advertise that the township is curtailing road oil and any resident who wishes
to purchase road oil may do so by calling the township for information and
pricing.
Road Inspection
was adjourned at 10:25 a.m.
